Starting a new vegetable garden, my first real garden, and I'm using the
Square Foot Garden method.
As typical of me, when I want to do something, I buy a book and go from there.

There was only one spot left in the back yard for a garden, but luckily it's well lit through the day. I built the box using 10" boards instead of the recommended 6". We also used pearlite instead of vermiculite because it was what was available.
I put weed block down and I'll be bringing a truckload full of white rock and some stepping stones so that I don't have to mow around the box either. Those are extra ceramic tiles I had laying about holding the weedblocker in place until I could bring in the rocks.
There's also enough room to put a 2nd 4'x4' box in next year for more vegetables.
In my rush to get all the components I needed, I goofed up and only cut 4 slats instead of the 6 I needed, so it's a 9 "area" garden instead of the 16 it should be (this makes sense if you know what the SFG method is...
here's the website).
I built the box and trellis based on the book, except for the devations already stated, and I was too excited to get started I stopped at a greenhouse around the corner from my house and bought some plants already sprouted to just transplant instead of dropping in seeds.
There's a big dirt pile behind the garden from when I had my yard graded for pool installation. I'm thinking of getting some railroad ties and blocking it out to just make a raise bed wildflower garden using the existing soil.
